Abstract
This project generally summarizes the activities duly carried out in the design and implementation of Bursary Disbursement System. The system is designed to efficiently handle the movement and tracking of funds through the replacement of paper work by technology. The manual method is labor intensive, costly, and error prone and cannot ensure the funds remains up-to-date due to oversight and internal shrinkage. With the proposed new system, funds can be updated in real time without people movement. The automated system allows funds status to be determined and reports are generated automatically triggering automatic alerts when amount of funds in the county bursary account runs low. The study outlines the main concepts of the analysis and design methodology of the proposed system, compares it to the existing and goes further to explain the design and implementation of the system using MY SQL for the database. The fact finding techniques employed is interview, observation, online and library research. The main objective of this study is to develop a computerized management system. Others include:Keep records of the entire applicants who have applied for bursary, Generate reports on the funds allocated and Send a notification to the applicants via SMS on the progress of the application.
